A New Variation on Keto-Coffee

Kegenix Keto-Coffee
Keto-Coffee Nutrion Facts

Dave Asprey and his Bulletproof coffee have officially gone mainstream. So many people are now adding butter and MCT oil or MCT powder to their morning coffee and singing the mind-clarifying benefits. I discovered a new twist on Keto-Coffee today that I had to share. Kegenix has introduced their first Keto-Meal Replacement Powder for people on-the-go who want to grab a Keto-friendly convenient meal. While making my coffee this morning I wondered how it would taste in my coffee instead of my usual butter+MCT oil + stevia. All I have to say is I won't be making my morning coffee without it tomorrow. I ran out of MCT oil this morning and was looking for an alternative. I remembered that I had a jug of Kegenix Meal Replacement Vanilla in my pantry so I grabbed it. After reading the label I decided that it was fine to use prior to training...

Glycine: Short and Sweet

Glycine: Short and Sweet

One of the amazing gut-heathy benefits of bone broth is bestowed by the content of glycine. Bone broth contains around 20% glycine by weight. Awareness about getting more glycine in the diet is becoming a growing trend. Many people feel angst about using artificial sweeteners to replace sugar in their diet confused about their safety. Even the natural non-nutritive sweetener Stevia has been called into question recently. Glycine is also a very sweet amino acid. So much so that I used it in the sweetener blend in Thrīv Protein. Glycine is a great sweetener. It also counts as non-nutritive since it contains zero carbohydrates, sugars, fats or protein. And it’s an important amino acid to get more of in your diet. As a sweetener it’s very comparable to table sugar in taste, not s sweet, but similar. It also measures similar to toable sugar. 1 teaspoon in a cup of coffee...

This recipe was provided by SHR listener Angela Penna Here's what I do for komucha. You'll have to obtain a scoby or grow your own. One way to grow your own is to use that kombucha Alisa bought and let sit in a jar with a flour sack towel (fst) over top for a week or so in room temp. Should form a rubbery little organism called a scoby. Don't refrigerate the scoby or put in hot liquid or it will die. It'll probably take a bit to grow your scoby, or a few batches. If you do it that way you can use a smaller amount of sweetened tea to get things rolling and follow method below. It's important to take about a cup of liquid from the batch you fermented and keep it with the scoby and add to next batch. Ok so here we go. It's a lot...

Anti-Inflammatory Protein Shake

Anti-Inflammatory Protein Shake

Wait until you try this recipe! While Turmeric is the star of this show, you can’t disregard the supporting characters which are Ginger, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Pineapple, Greek Yogurt, Coconut Milk and of course Whey Protein. Adding Turmeric and Ginger to your diet is one of the best things that you can do for your health so, I am constantly on a quest to do just that. Both Turmeric and Ginger are powerful anti-oxidants, while Cinnamon may help improve glucose and lipid levels. Both Turmeric and Ginger have powerful anti-Inflammatory properties while Pineapple has been shown to aid in digestion. And bonus, it adds a touch of sweetness to the mix. The Coconut Milk not only adds a great flavor and a touch of frothiness but it also adds the necessary fat to increase the bio-availability of these super star ingredients. I guess I could go on and on about the health...

Yogurt Bark.. Yummy

Yogurt Bark.. Yummy

I’ll admit it- I still eat dairy!  Greek Yogurt is one of my favorite treats to enjoy.  I also enjoy Icelandic Yogurt however, for the sake of this recipe we will concentrate on the Greek version.  It’s not quite as thick as the Icelandic version making it eaiser to spread on the cookie sheet. With this recipe anything goes.  Depending on your personal taste, you can make this into whatever you want it to be.  I used the plain 0% fat yogurt as my blank canvas and added whatever was available in my pantry.  As a word of caution, check the ingredient label, so many of the fruit added yogurts have high sugar content.  And, why would you want to buy fruit added when you can add your own, fresh fruit?  So, let’s get started… You will need a flat cookie sheet, parchment paper, plain Greek yogurt, I used, fresh organic...
