Last week I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Dale Bredsen from UCLA. His lab produced a paper that was the culmination of 25 years of research. You see Dr. Bredsen set out 25 years ago to discover the single molecule responsible for causing Alzheimer's disease. What he discovered instead is, just like the human body, it's a lot more complex than that.
For the first time ever his lab has successfully reversed the memory loss associated with Alzheimer's disease. This is no small feat. Even though as Dr. Bredsen points out this was a small trial of only 10 participants the results were nothing short of miraculous. No drug company has been successful in uncovering a therapy that will reverse the memory loss associated with Alzheimer's disease.
I said something in jest yesterday at the gym that made me take pause and think about how true it really is. I was talking to my good friend and fellow radio and TV personality Tony Vanetti and said to him that I hoped I would be there when he blows out the candles on his 100th year birthday cake because that would mean I would be 117.
