The Genetic Benefits of Eating Beef

The Genetic Benefits of Eating Beef

Patrik Dahlin appeared on Super Human Radio last week and discussed a meta-analysis he authored comparing the health outcomes from adherence to a vegan/vegetarian diet –vs- an omnivorous diet (that entire interview can be heard here). Many shocking things came from that discussion. The meta-analysis included over a quarter of a million human subjects. It is clear that the vegan/vegetarians of the world do not fare any better, and, in many cases, worse than their meat-eating brethren when it comes to health and longevity outcomes. Sorry it’s just the truth. What was more shocking was what was revealed at the end of the interview about the potential genetic benefits of eating beef. There’s a new one for you. Something GOOD actually attributed to eating beef. Please don’t tell Beyoncé and Jay Z. This 6 minute video below focuses specifically on this information. How eating beef effects your telomeres. Yep… those darn...

Proteinaholic Rebuttal

Proteinaholic Rebuttal

Howard, I applaud you for co-authoring the book Proteinaholic and approaching the Super Human Radio interview with a combination of open-mindedness, thoughtfulness, and skepticism. You were a joy to listen to and I believe that we need more individuals such as yourself promoting the diversity of thought that Proteinaholic brings to light. While the bulk of this letter addresses certain topics that we do not see eye-to-eye on, I want to start by highlighting the numerous points of agreement that were brought up throughout the hour interview. The irony with these, of course, is that they have little to nothing to do with protein. 1)      All humans in the world are the same species and we will therefore have a fundamental dietary pattern that best suits our needs. At the core, this will be a whole-foods, plant-based diet without all the processed crap (can I say that on here?). 2)      The...

PETA Lies

peta-1-1

PETA has a campaign promoting the lie that consuming animal protein will hurt your sex life. I’m not going to manufacture words to make this more interesting. Its not only a lie but it’s the exact opposite of the facts. The vegan diet has long been associated with lowered libido and erectile dysfunction in men and amenorrhea in young menstruating women. This fact was exploited by Dr. John Harvey Kellogg who invented Kellogg’s Corn Flakes as a remedy to help young children avoid the self-polluting actions of masturbation. Dr. Kellogg knew full well that vegan diets and diets low in animal protein & fats reduced sexual desire, libido and ejaculation in young adults. There are also numerous scientific studies out there that show long-term vegan diets leading to lowered sex hormone production that can affect libido and fertility in otherwise healthy young adults in childbearing years. This one in particular is...

Our Official Position On Red Meat And Cancer

Our Official Position On Red Meat And Cancer

Over the past few days I have received emails and phone calls asking my position on the recent World Health Organization's opinion of red meat and the linkage to cancer. I reached out to the Super Human Radio Brain Trust and conferred with them. The position below is the blending of the opinons of Adel Moussa (author at the popular SuppVersity.com blog), Alex Leaf (News Director and nutritional blogger here at SHR) and myself.  There is little doubt that processed meats like sausages, chopped, flaked and formed ham and processed bacon increase your cancer risk - that's all junk and have little to do with "meat". The health difference between sausages or bacon and a piece of grass fed or even corn fed steak is greater than the difference between boiled whole potatoes and French fries. The only problem is that the headlines say "red meat" and this was to pander to a...
